Description of the Works

The project involves seismic upgrading, energy efficiency improvement and volumetric expansion works at the “Alessandro Manzoni” school complex, located at Via Frescobaldi 2 in Pesaro (PU). The contract was awarded to a Temporary Joint Venture (RTI), in which Edilsystem S.r.l. is involved as the specialist contractor responsible exclusively for the high-technology structural works.

In particular, Edilsystem was fully responsible for the complex seismic base isolation phase of the building.

More specifically, the specialist works carried out by Edilsystem included:

• Controlled hydraulic load transfer of the existing columns and load-bearing walls in the basement using temporary support systems and high-pressure hydraulic jacks, in order to safely relieve the static loads.
• Controlled cutting of the reinforced concrete sections of the existing columns using diamond wire technology to create the housings for the new devices.
• Guided positioning and installation of high-damping elastomeric seismic isolators, including precision connections to the lower and upper steel plates and to the structural anchor bolts.
• Execution of structural anchoring works and final locking of the bases using high-strength, non-shrink, flowable, thixotropic and fibre-reinforced cementitious grouts.
