Description of the Works

Edilsystem was awarded the contract for the execution of seismic upgrading works at the Perugia Traffic Police headquarters, located in Via Ruggero d’Andreotto.

The works included the installation of a seismic isolation system comprising 39 double concave curved surface sliding isolators, together with all preliminary and specialist activities required for the correct installation of the devices, in accordance with the project drawings and the instructions of the Works Supervision team.

Edilsystem S.r.l. carried out the operational phases involving the controlled load transfer of the columns using temporary support systems, clamps and/or temporary brackets, the installation of 100-ton hydraulic jacks with dedicated steel shims, the connection of high-pressure hydraulic hoses to the hydraulic power unit, and the pressurisation of the system until the design values were reached.

The works also included controlled cutting of the existing columns using diamond wire saw technology, levelling of the cut surfaces where required, installation of the permanent steel caps, positioning of the isolators with upper and lower connections to the anchor bolts already embedded in the reinforced concrete structure, as well as the execution of formwork and casting of the bases using high-strength flowable cementitious grout with thixotropic and fibre-reinforced properties.
