Description of the Works

The project involved the execution of specialist structural works as part of the seismic upgrading of the “Mauro Scarlato” Hospital in Scafati, with particular reference to the installation of seismic isolation devices on reinforced concrete structural elements.

In particular, Edilsystem S.r.l. acted as a specialist subcontractor on behalf of Delkonine S.r.l., carrying out the on-site activities related to the installation of double concave curved surface sliding seismic isolators on reinforced concrete columns, as part of the wider regulatory, structural and building systems upgrading of the hospital complex.

The works included the preliminary and specialist operational phases required for the installation of the devices, including controlled load transfer of the columns using hydraulic jacks, connection of the hydraulic system, monitoring of the operating pressures specified by the project, controlled cutting of the existing column sections using a diamond wire saw, and subsequent preparation of the bearing surfaces.

The project involved the installation of a total of 108 double concave curved surface sliding devices, in accordance with the operating procedures set out in the technical documentation and project specifications.
